Ahmedabad (Gujarat) – Religious fanatics attacked the police who were trying to stop the collective namaz prayers which were being conducted in violation of the Covid-19 norms. The Namaz was being held at Ali Mosque, near Lions Club in Kapadvanj area. The religious fanatics also collectively attacked the Kundav Police outpost and Town Police Station. They also torched a four wheeler and 2 bikes. The police had to resort to tear gas. However since there was no change in the condition, additional police forces were brought in to gain control over the situation. One policeman was injured in this violence. The police have not provided any information to the media regarding this incident. It is pertinent to note that last year too, religious fanatics had carried out such attacks on the police in various parts of the country, even as the pandemic raged on.
