New Delhi – Migrant workers will get free ration for two months. Workers without a ration card will also get ration. The poor will get 5 Kg of grains. This was announced by Central Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitaraman in a press conference. She claimed that 8 crore migrant workers will benefit from this. Government will introduce ‘One nation, one ration card’ scheme. This will enable the poor to get ration from any ration shop in the country, clarified Sitaraman.
Prime Minister Modi announced a package of Rs. 20 lakh crore to uplift the economy of the country, which is crippled by the lockdown. Nirmala Sitaraman is to explain which sectors will get how much assistance from this package, in the next four days. 14th May was the second day of the briefing. On 13th May, she declared that in the first stage the small and medium industries will get Rs. 3 lakh crore.

- Special announcement for the poor, hawkers, migrant workers and small farmers will be made. Though there are only two announcements for the farmers, more announcements will follow. Nobody should allege ‘Modi Government does not care for farmers’. This Government is for the welfare of the poor. Migrant workers will get assistance from the Poor Welfare Scheme.
- Rs. 4,200 crore was sanctioned from Rural Infrastructure Development Fund for basic infrastructure in the rural sector.
- Three crore small farmers received loans of Rs. 4 lakh crore. The farmers were given concession in the interest. Now, the concession is extended till 31st May 2020.
- Twenty-five lakh Kisan Credit Cards are sanctioned and Rs. 25,000 crore is made available through this.
