Another closed temple found in Muslim-majority area of Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh)

The temple is in ruins and fanatic Muslims have vandalized the idols in the temple

Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh) – After the discovery of 2 temples in the past 3 days in Sambhal that had been closed for many years, now the Banke Bihari Temple has been found in the 100% Muslim-dominated area of Laxmanganj in Chandausi town of the same District. This temple is now in a dilapidated state. After the exodus of Hindus, fanatic Muslims vandalized the idols in 2010.

Laxmanganj had a large Hindu population till 25 years ago; but gradually the Muslim population increased here. After this, the migration of Hindus started and it impacted the 152-year-old Banke Bihari Temple located here. At one time, morning and evening prayers were performed in this temple. Hindus used to come for darshan.

According to the information given by the temple’s custodian, Krishna Kumar, puja was being held in the temple till 2010. That year, fanatic Muslims destroyed the idol of Deity Banke Bihari and the Shivlinga in the temple along with other idols. The Police also took action; but no attention was paid to the temple. Gradually, the doors, spires, etc. of the temple were broken. The temple is in complete ruins. Here, instead of idols, their traces are visible in the temple.

Editorial Perspective

It has become necessary to launch a campaign to find temples in Muslim-majority areas in other States as well. For this, Hindu organizations should create pressure on local Governments.
