Ban the entry of non-Hindus at Prayagraj Mahakumbha Mela

  • Demand by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham

  • Also opposes allowing non-Hindus to set up stalls

Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham

Kawardha (Chhattisgarh) – Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham, while speaking to the media, demanded that non-Hindus should not be allowed to enter the Mahakumbha Mela in Prayagraj. Additionally, he supported the idea of not permitting non- Hindus to set up stalls at the Mahakumbha.

Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri further stated,

1. Only Hindus who have knowledge of Sanatan culture, Puja rituals, and purity of puja items should be allowed to set up stalls. Those who lack this understanding should not be given entry. There have been incidents, like spitting inappropriately or contaminating fruits. We are not claiming there is a conspiracy behind this, but such incidents could happen.

2. Prayagraj is home to the Triveni Sangam, a place revered by Saints. If you have no connection to religious discourse, Hindutva, Sanatan Dharma, or Shriram, then why should you be involved in activities related to Shriram ?

Editorial Perspectives

  • Non-Hindus come to the Mahakumbha festival only to earn money or attempt religious conversions, as has been observed till now. Therefore, if someone is demanding a ban on them, how can it be called wrong ?
  • If similar demands are made by other Saints and religious organisations, it could create pressure on the Government and help keep Hindu pilgrimage sites and the Kumbha Mela sacred.
