New Delhi – Priyank Kanoongo, the Chairperson of National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights recommended that the funding received by madarasas from State Governments should be stopped and Madearasa Board be scrapped. He has written a letter in this regard to Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories in which he has given a reference from the Report by the Commission on Madarasas. He further emphasises the need to remove non-Muslim children from madrasas and move them to State Government run schools. This will provide a suitable environment for the future of the children in the nation.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) advises states to stop funding Madra$a$!
BJP-led states and center, must take the lead to stop funding Madra$a$s and dissolve the Madra$a Board. This bold move will inspire other states to follow suit!@KanoongoPriyank pic.twitter.com/6FbPYj8ufF

In his letter, Priyank Kanoongo claims that there is a contradiction between the Rights of the Minority Community and the Fundamental Rights of Children. Elaborating upon the reason behind this, he writes that children studying in madarasas do not receive high quality education.
Editorial ViewpointThere are BJP Governments in many States as well as at the Centre. If they stop funding madarasas with crores of rupees and scrap the Madarasa Board, it will put pressure on the State Governments ruled by other parties to follow them. |
