Ranchi (Jharkhand) – Ahead of Navaratri, a sack of banned meat was discovered in front of the Kali temple, triggering outrage among the local Hindu community. Additionally, pieces of meat were found at 2 other locations in the city. CCTV footage captured the meat being transported via tractor. The Police confirmed that the incident occurred on the morning of September 29thand assured a prompt investigation.
1. According to Sumit Agrawal, Superintendent of Police, Ranchi Rural Sector, on September 29th at 11:15 a.m., a sack full of meat was discovered on HB Road in Tharpakhna, Ranchi. In response, local Hindus blocked the Lalpur-Albert Ekka chowk road. Senior Police officers, along with Durga Puja Committee members, BJP leaders, and activists, arrived at the scene in an attempt to calm the situation. However, the anger of the people showed no signs of subsiding.
2. As the unrest continued, 2 more instances of meat being found in Ranchi were reported. To prevent further escalation, the Police swiftly removed the meat from those areas. However, questions remained unanswered how the meat arrived at these locations, and who brought it. There is growing concern among Hindus as to whether beef smuggling is being carried out in the city.
3. Interestingly, local Hindus feel that the Police and administration are more focused on pacifying their anger rather than addressing the root of the issue, with claims that authorities are not giving sufficient attention to the matter even after the incidents come to light.
