Hindu student expelled from a Bangladeshi University for alleged blasphemy

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – A few days ago, a student named Utsav Mondal (18), was brutally assaulted by Muslims and his eyes were gouged out in front of the Police and army personnel at the Police station. While this case is still fresh, another similar case has come to light. Kankan Vishwas, a student of the Biomedical Engineering Department of the Jessore University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh and President of the ‘Sanatan Vidyarthi Sansad’, has been accused by Muslim students of insulting Islam. After this, the management of the university expelled Kankan Vishwas from the university.

Protests by Muslim students

The Muslim students put pressure on the university administration by holding demonstrations on September 7, demanding action against Kankan Vishwas and to expel him. They also submitted a letter to the Registrar of the university. Muslim students said that Kankan should be punished for his radical Hindutva. He makes provocative statements against Islam. Muslim students have accused Kanak of spreading anti-Islamic views on social media.

Editorial Perspective

It can be seen from past incidents that Muslims in Pakistan or Bangladesh are using blasphemy as a weapon against Hindus and trying to eliminate them. Considering this, what steps will the Government of India take to protect them ?
