Verdict after 3.5 years long trial
Thane – Maunuddin Azizullah Ansari, a 75-year-old man, has been sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000 for raping his 5-year-old neighbour. He lured the girl into his house under the pretext of watching television. This incident occurred in Bhiwandi in 2021. The special POCSO Court of Bhiwandi District Sessions Judge N. K. Karande delivered the verdict, convicting the perpetrator.
The accused was arrested on November 10, 2021. The trial in the special POCSO Court continued for 3.5 years before the final verdict was delivered.
