Mumbai – The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has laid off 100 employees, including 60 faculty members and 40 non-teaching staff. TISS announced that these employees would not have their employment contracts renewed as of 29 June. The institute cited the lack of regular funding from the Tata Education Trust as the reason for the layoffs and has issued notices to all affected employees. Many of these employees have been with the institute since 2008 and have contributed to various academic programs and research projects.
