New Delhi – Narendra Modi will take the oath as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. The swearing-in ceremony will be held on June 9th at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Leaders from neighbouring countries such as Sri Lanka, Maldives, Seychelles, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Nepal, and Bhutan have been invited to the event, while Pakistan has been notably excluded. In 2014, Modi invited the then-Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, to his first swearing-in, but no invitation was extended in 2019 or this year. Around 8,000 dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony.

Security tightened in Delhi
- Following the international-level G20 conference organized in Delhi a few months ago, similar tight security measures have been implemented for the swearing-in ceremony. Senior officers of Delhi Police have reviewed the security arrangements.
- Section 144 has been enforced in the city to maintain strict security. The flying of drones has been banned in the city until June 10th.
- Delhi has been declared a ‘no-fly zone’ on the day of the swearing-in ceremony, i.e. on June 9th. Therefore, no planes, helicopters, etc, will be able to fly over this area on this day.
- Security has been reinforced with the deployment of Delhi Police, the President’s Security Guard, the Intelligence Department Squad, Black Cat Commandos of the Security Forces and NDRF teams.
