India-US relations founded on common vision and values : US Secretary of Defence

Singapore – US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin emphasised that India-US relations are founded on a common vision and common values. He was speaking at the ‘ Shangri-La Dialogue,’ Asia’s premier defence summit.

1. When a representative asked Austin about Indo-US relations, he responded, ” At present, we have good relations with India. We are working as co-producers of armoured vehicles with India, and there is progress in this project.”

2. Austin added, ” We are working with our friends in the Indo-Pacific region to remove barriers to the defence industry’s momentum.” He assured that the US will continue to play an important role in the Indo-Pacific.

3. The ‘Indo-Pacific’ region includes Taiwan, Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indian Ocean, and South China Sea.
