Kota (Rajasthan) – On 29th March 29, during a local festival in Kethun town of Kota District, a Ramleela programme was organised. After the Ramleela, a procession called ‘Ram Barat’ was scheduled. In many parts of North India, after the Ramleela, the marriage of Deity Shriram and Sita is solemnised, followed by a procession. This procession, known as ‘Ram Barat’, was attacked by Muslims near a mosque, where they also vandalised the DJ system. In this incident, Hindu men and women were injured. Subsequently, distressed people demanded action against Muslims outside the Police station. When they started raising slogans, the Police resorted to lathi charge to disperse them. The Police stated that an investigation into this incident is underway.
1. In this regard, the Rural Police Superintendent Karan Sharma stated that the Ram Barat procession was passing by the mosque. At this time, the Muslims were offering namaz. There was a dispute over the DJ system in the procession. Someone removed the wires of the sound system, leading to violence.
2. Co-Regional Minister of VHP Yogesh Renwal said that after the Ram Barat procession, when the participants were returning, they were attacked, and as they demanded action against Muslims, the Police lathi-charged them. If the Police do not take action without bias, Kethun town will be closed in protest.
