We encourage a fair, transparent and timely legal process for Kejriwal : US reacts on Delhi CM’s arrest

Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal

Washington – After the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the liquor scam, spokesperson of the US State Department said, “We are keeping a close eye on Kejriwal’s arrest. We encourage a fair, transparent and timely legal process in this case.” He made this statement while replying to a question asked by reporters on the Kejriwal case.

1. Earlier, the German Government had commented on Kejriwal’s arrest. India gave a befitting reply to Germany. Along with this, Germany’s ambassador to Delhi, George Enzweiler, was summoned. He was told that ‘Germany should not interfere in the internal affairs of India’.

2. Earlier, the US had made a statement about the ‘Citizenship Amendment Act’ (CAA). The US had said at that time that ‘we are keeping a close eye on this matter’.

Editorial Perspectives

  • 9 Indian origin students living in the US have died in the last 3 months. The US must speak about that investigation first.

  • Racist attacks are on the rise in the US. Instead of wasting time interfering in India’s internal matters, the US should try to stop the growing racism.
