Nagpur, Maharashtra – The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha on Sunday re-elected Dattatreya Hosabale as its General Secretary after its annual meeting held in Nagpur from 15th to 17th March. He has been carrying out the responsibility of General Secretary since 2021. The Sangh conducts an election process every 3 years to select the District Sanghchalak, Division Sanghchalak, Province Sanghchalak, Area Sanghchalak, as well as General Secretary. After the Sarsanghchalak, the position of Sarkaryawah is considered the most important in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Who is Dattatreya Hosabale ?

Dattatreya Hosabale is a resident of Shivamogga, Karnataka. Hosabale did his Masters in English from Bangalore University. Born on 1st December, 1955, Hosabale joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1968 at the age of just 13. In the year 1972, he participated in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Hosabale was the ABVP Karnataka State Union Minister. After this he was ABVP’s National Minister and Union Minister. He was ABVP’s National Organization Minister for nearly 2 decades. After this he was made the All India Co-Intellectual Chief of the Sangh around 2002-03. He was the co-chairman from the year 2009. Dattatreya Hosable has knowledge of many languages ​​including English, Tamil, Marathi, Hindi, Sanskrit besides his mother tongue Kannada. He was also active in the anti-emergency movement of 1975-77. He also went to jail during this period.
