At least one Indian dies in the US every day : Team Aid founder

Washington (USA) – We are not exaggerating, but it is true that at least one Indian is dying in the US every day. Mostly students or workers, who have recently come to the USA from India, have been among the dead, claimed Mohan Nannapaneni, the founder of ‘Team Aid’, a voluntary organisation offering help in devastating situations. He said it in the background of recent incidents of attacks on Indian students and their killings.

Nannapaneni said,

Many Indian students have recently come into trouble and some have unfortunately died, which is very saddening; though it is not the first time that such things have happened. We have been helping people since 2001 considering the history of the past few years.

Many similar cases have been exposed in which an Indian student either met with an accident in his vehicle or drowned. Consumption of narcotics is rising in the US. Unfortunately, there have been incidents of even Indian students’ deaths due to the consumption of narcotics.

The organisation extends necessary help to family members and people in crisis covering a range of situations which includes help in transporting dead bodies back to India, performing last rites at the local level or helping in hospitals. The recurring deaths of Indian students in the US have increased our worries.

Our organisation is working on the cases of Indian students’ deaths. I feel very sad to see many young students committing suicide for different reasons. Parents send children abroad to study and spend a lot of money for their education, but want of employment opportunities creates stress in students and some of them take the extreme step of suicide.
