India’s UPI will be now accepted in France

Paris (France) – NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) has joined hands with Lyra, a leading French expert in e-commerce and proximity payments, to introduce the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in France. India Narendra Modi said that it was very nice to see this. This is an important step towards making UPI global. This will boost digital payments (online).

The Indian Embassy organised a Republic Day reception here. It was during this period that UPI was formally inaugurated. Top officials of India and France were present on this occasion. UPI has been inaugurated in France after the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to India. Macron reached Jaipur on 25th January. This time Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed him about UPI. This time the two leaders had tea and the money was paid online by Macron.

What is UPI ?

Unified Payment Interface i.e. UPI was first launched by India in the year 2016. It has been created by the establishment ‘National Payment Corporation of India’. It provides the facility of transferring money directly to the
bank account easily.
