Order also issued to remove the mosque
Haldwani (Uttarakhand) – During an action against encroachment, the District Administration here demolished a madarasa built on Government land within the jurisdiction of Banbhoolpura Police station. Additionally, an order has been issued for the removal of a mosque situated in the same area. This decisive action transpired under the supervision of the local Police. According to the administration, the individual responsible for these encroachments is identified as Abdul Malik. He had encroached upon approximately one acre of Government land, disguising his activities under the guise of constructing a mosque while engaging in the illicit sale of land.

Such actions should be taken against every unauthorized madrasa, mosque, dargah, and shrine in the country.

Action taken despite the opposition from Samajwadi Party Muslim leader
While the action was being taken, Samajwadi Party leader Mateen Siddiqui accompanied by his supporters, arrived there to protest. He had an argument with the administrative officials. Despite their opposition, the Municipal Commissioner and City Magistrate upheld their decision to take action against the madrasa. Additionally, they issued a directive for the removal of the mosque within the next two days, while ensuring a designated area for offering namaz in the interim. The administration has since taken control of the premises, erecting fencing and installing signs indicating Government ownership of the site.
Earlier too, action was taken against encroachments here
A few months ago, the District Administration had taken action against the unauthorised constructions on this site. Now this land was encroached again in the name of mosque and madrasa. (What was the administration doing when encroachment was taking place again after previously taking action ? If the encroachers had been dealt with sternly before and the land adequately protected, this reoccurrence could have been avoided. Does the administration not comprehend this crucial aspect ? – Editor)
Encroachment will not be tolerated under any circumstances. It would be better if encroachers vacate the Government premises voluntarily, otherwise the administration will take strict action ! – Collector Vandana Singh |
