Terrorist activities reduced by 63% in Jammu and Kashmir in 2023

Srinagar (J&K) – In the year 2023, there has been a significant decrease in Jihadi terrorist activities in J&K. J&K Police’s Director General R. R. Swain informed that 76 terrorists were killed in 48 counter-terrorism operations in the year 2023. 55 of them were foreigners. Compared to the year 2022, terrorist incidents have decreased by 63%. Last year there were 125 terrorist incidents in the State. This year the number has come down to 46. The Director General gave this information on 30th December.

Statistics reported by Director General of J&K Police R. R. Swain,

1. In 2023, 291 terrorist accomplices were arrested in J&K

2. Cases registered against 201 ‘Overground workers’ under the Public Safety Act (‘Overground workers’ are people who help Jihadi terrorists by providing them money, accommodation and transportation)

3. 80% reduction in terrorist recruitment: In 2022, this figure was 130, this year only 22

4. 31 local terrorists have been identified in J&K and this is the lowest number so far

5. The incidents of murders of local citizens in the State have also decreased and the number has come down from last year’s 31 to 14

6. In 2022, 14 Police personnel were martyred, this year the number is 4, i.e., a decrease of 71%

7. 99 properties worth more than Rs 170 crore seized for suspected terrorist and separatist activities

8. 8,000 fake social media accounts detected by the Police. Most of them are operating from outside India

9. The bank accounts of many were also frozen

10. Increase terrorist activities in Rajouri and Poonch Districts of Jammu division this year. 19 soldiers and 7 civilians died in these 2 Districts.

Editorial Perspective

The work done by our Armed Forces is undoubtedly commendable. But patriotic Indians expect India to enter into PoK and destroy all terrorist bases, similar to how Israel is destroying Hamas in the Gaza Strip !
