Case registered against 2 female employees for taking the minor out of the Juvenile Detention Centre

Haldwani (Uttarakhand) – A case has been registered against 2 female employees of a Juvenile Detention Centre for facilitating rape of a 15-year-old girl. It is alleged that the female staff members would take the girl outside the Juvenile Detention Centre, where she was then raped by many individuals. The revelation occurred when the girl reported the incidents to the officer who had arrived to inspect the Juvenile Detention Centre.
Uttarakhand’s Minister of Child and Women Development, Rekha Arya, said that one of the women in the case was suspended with immediate effect, while another, assigned through the homeguard department at the Women’s Welfare and Rehabilitation Centre in Haldwani, was recalled immediately. In response to the incident, a committee comprising two impartial members has been formed for a specialised departmental investigation.
