Shri Tulja Bhavani Devi’s missing gold crown found

  • 16-member counting committee of the temple reported crown was lost
  • Kadam, a member of the gold counting committee of the temple, claims that the crown was found in a brass box in the temple itself
  • The Government should imprison for life those who falsely reported the loss of the crown

Tuljapur, Maharashtra – Amarraje Kadam, a member of the Gold Counting Committee and President of the Bhope Pujari Mandal, claimed that the missing gold crown of Shri Bhavanidevi of Tuljapur (Dist.: Dharashiv) has been found. It is said that this crown was found in a brass box in Shri Tulja Bhavani temple. A gold crown weighing 826 grams was missing in the enumeration committee’s report; but Kadam has claimed that the same crown has been found now. However, no response has been given by the temple administration regarding this.

The counting of gold, silver and valuables offered by the devotees to Shri Bhavanidevi during the period from 2009 to 2023 was done by the Temple Sansthan a few days ago. Out of 27 ornaments, 4 ornaments were found to be missing including a mangalsutra and a gold crown weighing 826 grams. It was also reported that another crown was placed to hide this theft.

Editorial Perspective

Loss of gold and silver ornaments in Government-controlled temples, disappearance of temple lands from the Government records, illegal occupation or selling of temple lands, corruption in temples, looting of their property, etc. are all side effects of the governmentalisation of temples ! For this, the devotees should keep insisting that the temples should be handed over to the devotees.
