New Delhi – According to the new rules made by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration, violence, hunger strikes or agitation by students in the university premises will invite a fine of Rs 20,000. Also, a fine of Rs 10,000 will be levied for incitement by shouting anti-national, anti-caste and anti-religion slogans. Apart from this, if an event is organised on the premises without the permission of the university administration, a fine of up to Rs 6,000 will be levied. It is said that this rule was made to maintain discipline among the students. If the students continue to violate these rules, they will be expelled from the university.
The administration has banned 28 types of events and activities in the area. These include gambling, obstructing the functioning of the administration, taking illegal control of hostel rooms, using abusive language, cheating, etc.
