J&K Police introduce GPS tracker anklet on a terrorist out on bail to monitor

Srinagar (Jammu-Kashmir) – Special NIA Court, Jammu, passed an order directing the police to affix a GPS tracker anklet on a terror accused Ghulam Mohammad. He was arrested and later released on bail in a terrorism-related case.

According to officials, the tracker anklets are already in use in countries like the United States, the UK, South Africa, and Australia and New Zealand, for maintaining surveillance of accused on bail. Jammu-Kashmir is the first to use this device on an accused released on bail.

Police further added, ”It is pertinent to note that the accused Ghulam Mohd Bhat is also convicted by the NIA Court Patiala House Delhi in another case for being associated with a terrorist organisation and for conspiracy for a terrorist act.

He was arrested in a terror-funding case under the stringent anti-terror law UAPA and had applied for bail. (Even after 12 years in prison, the accused continues to be a part of terrorist activities. Such criminals do not change their mindset. They must be hanged to death. – Editor)
