The United Nations should condemn Pakistan’s decision to deport one million Afghan refugees from its country

An appeal from an organisation of Indians living abroad

Islamabad (Pakistan) – The United Nations, the United States and the international community must condemn Pakistan’s decision to expel 1 million Afghanis. An organisation of Indians living abroad, the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS), has appealed to stop the process of evicting Afghans from Pakistan.

Khanderao Kand, Chief of Policy and Strategy at FIIDS stated,

We urge the IMF to stop the $ 3B approved under Standby Arrangement in June and the US to stop all military aid as well as any USAID funds to Pakistan, until it stops this deportation.
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s planned forced deportation of Afghan refugees, who had fled under duress from the brutal Taliban rule, is not only illegal under international law but could also trigger a massive humanitarian crisis.

It was always known since the time of Osama Bin Laden that Pakistan worked very closely with the Taliban as its proxy to have a grip over Afghanistan. Now Pakistan seems frustrated at its weakening control over the Taliban.

Pakistan is trying to do the same to its Afghan refugees that it did to its minority Hindu and Sikh citizens back in 1947, which is to harass and run them away so as to steal all their assets and properties.

We urge the Government of Pakistan to work with international humanitarian organisations to ensure an effective and dignified resettlement process for Afghan refugees.

Editorial Perspective

Afghani citizens are Muslims. Yet Pakistan is deporting them from its country instead of giving them shelter. But if India deports Rohingya or Bangladeshi Muslims from its country, then this same Pakistan opposes India. This act makes it clear that Pakistan does not care about Muslims rather just hates India.
