New Delhi – ‘Some indices deliberately do not reflect the real situation in India. An example of this is the Global Hunger Index. Their staff calls 3,000 people out of 1.4 billion people in India and asks whether they are hungry. From that, they derive this index. According to this index, Pakistan is in a better position than India ! Is this possible ?’, Union Minister Smriti Irani said while expressing disappointment. India has slipped from 107th to 111th spot in the list of 125 countries in the Global Hunger Index. Due to this, Irani raised the above questions on the reliability of this index in an event at Hyderabad on 20th October.

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate objected to this and said, ‘I don’t know what is more embarrassing, ignorance or insensitivity shown by you to the public ? Do you really think that the Global Hunger Index is derived by just calling people and asking whether they are hungry ? You are the minister of the country. It is unfortunate to hear this from you’ ! (If this index is to be believed, India’s plight in terms of hunger in the last 76 years is due to the Congress ruling the country for more than 6 decades. Why is Shrinate silent on this ? – Editor)

Editorial Perspective

If this is true, it is necessary to raise voice on the global platform against the global firms conducting such surveys and expose their anti-India nature !
