Crime of attempted suicide registered against the President of a Hindu Organisation who was fasting

Puneeth Kerehalli (Devout Hindu)

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The Police have filed a case of attempted suicide against Puneeth Kerehalli, who heads Rashtra Rakshana Pade, in various Police stations. They have also registered a case of obstruction of law and order in the State. This action was taken as Karehalli was fasting at the ‘Svatantra Udyan’ against his arrest in the Goonda Act. The Police have forcefully admitted him to hospital. The Police said that they registered a case against Kerehalli after he began his fast. On the 7th of October Puneeth Kerehalli had said in front of BJP and Hindu Organisations that ‘he would set fire to a Government bus and throw stones on the Vidhan Sabha’. On this statement, he was picked up under the Goonda Act.

Earlier too the Goonda Act had been filed against him. At that time the Karnataka High Court had freed him saying that sufficient evidence was not given by the Police.
