Jerusalem (Israel) – On Saturday, 9th September, a groundbreaking agreement was unveiled during the ongoing G20 Summit in Delhi, announcing a rail and shipping corridor from India to Europe via the Middle East, named the ‘India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor’ (IMEC). The announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside top global leaders. US President Joe Biden lauded this significant project as ‘a real big deal’. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it is the largest cooperation project in history that will benefit the entire world. He further said that Israel is the centre of this international project as it connects Asia with Europe. This project will change the face of the Middle East and Israel. This is the biggest project in history. It was announced by India, the US, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Italy etc. This economic highway is said to be a response to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
