BJP woman leader in Assam becomes victim of ‘Love Jihad’

Guwahati (Assam) – BJP woman leader Jonali Nath was murdered by her Muslim lover and local Congress leader Hasanur Islam in Goalpara district of the State. After killing, Islam dumped the body on a nearby national highway. The incident took place on the evening of 11th June and Islam was arrested on the morning of 12th June. He has confessed to the crime.

According to local media, Hasanur Islam is a Congress leader from Goalpara’s Matia area and earlier he was a member of ‘All Assam Minority Students Union’.

Police said Jonali Nath and Islam were having an affair for the past two years. Jonali was angry with Islam as he recently married another woman. On the evening of 11th June, when Jonali was picked up by Islam in his car, the two had an argument. Islam then struck Jonali on the face until she fell unconscious. Doctors said that Jonali was murdered with some sharp weapon. Jonali is survived by her husband and two daughters.
