  • Statement by movie producer Vipul Shah and director Sudipto Sen
  • Tamil Nadu and Bengal have banned the movie
  • Will file a petition in the High Court

Mumbai – “State Governments of Tamil Nadu and Bengal have banned the screening of the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ citing law and order concerns. A petition will be filed in the High Court against this. We will fight through legal means”, said the movie’s producer Vipul Shah and director Sudipto Sen.

Vipul Shah said,

1. After the Court gave order to release the movie, who are Tamil Nadu and Bengal Government to ban it ? We will fight against this ban through legal means. We have presented a very serious issue in the country through this movie.

2. I thank the citizens of this country for the good response to the movie. The subject of the movie is important and it should reach more and more people. The Prime Minister has also spoken about this movie. Some have supported the movie, while others have opposed it.

3. In Tamil Nadu, because of one individual the release has been stopped. Our movie is not against any community and caste. It is only against terrorism. Whoever wants to make politics out of this movie should do so but the audience gives final answer.

4. Why was this movie released during the Karnataka elections ? Answering this question, Vipul Shah said, “We started working on this movie 3 years ago. At that time, it was not thought that Karnataka election will be held now. Elections keep happening in this country. This does not mean that we should not release the movie.”
