We are watching Rahul Gandhi’s case in Indian Courts : USA

Washington (USA) – Vedant Patel, Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department, while responding to a question, said that ‘We engage with the Government of India on our shared commitment to democratic values, including the Freedom of Expression. Respect for the rule of law and judicial independence is a cornerstone of any democracy. We are watching Rahul Gandhi’s case in Indian Courts’.

Patel further said, ‘In our engagements with our Indian partners, we continue to highlight the importance of democratic principles and the protection of human rights, including freedom of expression, as a key to strengthening both our democracies’.

Action on Rahul Gandhi unjustified – US Congressman Ro Khanna

Editorial viewpoint

The action taken on Rahul Gandhi is in line with the Indian Constitution. Foreign citizens have no right to comment on India’s internal matters without proper research. Indian Government must warn such people.

USA’s Indian origin Congressman, Ro Khanna, twitted that, ‘The expulsion of Rahul Gandhi from the parliament is a deep betrayal of Gandhian philosophy. Action has been taken on Rahul Gandhi for criticising the ‘Modi’ surname. It is not justified’.

Editorial viewpoint

Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha is India’s internal matter. The USA does not have to watch it. India did not watch the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement (a movement against discrimination faced by the black people) that occurred in the USA. Indian Government is expected to give a stern response to the US Government in this matter.
