Washington (US) – Indian-American Arun Subramaniam has been confirmed as the first South Asian District Judge for the Southern District of New York. Earlier, in September 2022, US President Joe Biden had announced Subramaniam’s nomination to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
In a tweet, Senate Majority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer confirmed the nomination of Subramaniam by a vote of 58-37. Senator Schumer said that Subramaniam dedicated his career to fighting for people.

Who is Arun Subramaniam ?
1. Arun Subramaniam was born in 1979 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His parents immigrated to America from India in the early 1970s. His father worked as a control systems engineer in several companies, while his mother worked in several companies.
2. Subramaniam earned his Juris Doctor (JD) from Columbia Law School in 2004 and a BA in Computer Science and English from Case Western Reserve University in 2001.
3. In his career, Arun has successfully recovered over one billion dollars in payments to public and private entities that have been victims of fraud and other illegal conduct.
