Ankara (Turkiye) – Turkiye and Syria were again jolted by a strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake. Five people succumbed to death and 294 injured. This earthquake followed the earthquake of 6th February, although minor jolts had continued in this period. Lebanon, Israel and Cyprus also were jolted by this earthquake. The death toll on 6th February has reached more than 47,000.

20,000 earthquakes occur all over the world in a year
National Earthquake Information Center recorded 20,000 earthquakes in the world every year. Among them 100 cause heavy damage. While most earthquakes last a few seconds, the longest recorded earthquake in history lasted up to 10 minutes in the Indian Ocean in 2004.
