Pro-Khalistani groups attack Indians carrying the National flag in Australia

6 Indians injured and 2 Pro-Khalistanis arrested

Melbourne (Australia) – On the evening of 29th January, Pro-Khalistani groups attacked Indians carrying the Indian National flag and chanting slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Khalistan Murdabad’ in Melbourne. Six people of Indian origin have been injured in this incident and 2 of the pro-Khalistanis have been arrested in connection with the attacks. BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa has condemned the attack. After Canada, Khalistani dominance has also increased in Australia in the last 5 years. 3 Hindu temples were attacked by the Khalistanis in Australia in the last month.

1. An organisation banned in India, Sikhs for Justice (‘SFJ’), organised an alleged referendum at Federation Square in Melbourne. A large number of pro-khalistani groups gathered here shouting slogans.

2. A group of 25 to 30 youths was approaching Federation Square carrying the Indian national flag and chanting slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Khalistan Murdabad’. Khalistani groups attacked them with sticks and chanted anti-India slogans.
