World Health Organisation to help in the investigation !
Tashkent (Uzbekistan) – The health ministry of Uzbekistan has alleged that 18 children died in the country after consuming medicines manufactured by an Indian pharmaceutical company. ‘This syrup is manufactured by Marion Biotech. The name of the cough syrup is Dok-1 Max. They have also alleged that it is not sold in India. In this context the WHO has said, ‘we are speaking with the Uzbekistan Health Officers. We are going to assist in the investigations.’ The Indian Government has not yet responded to the Uzbekistan allegation.

Uzbekistan Government in its statement said that the cough syrup contains ‘Ethylene glycol’. This is a poisonous material. Side effect of using that product can be nausea, vomiting, fainting, spasm, damages the kidneys, and complications of the heart. Investigation showed that the dead children had consumed the syrup continuously for 2 to 7 days, 3-4 dozes per day. The amount was 2.5ml to 5ml. This was a large dose for the children. The guardians misused the medicines. Bring the medicines from the medical stores and protect the children from the cold.
Gambia’s clarification that the Gambian children did not die because of the Indian cough syrup !
Some months back the death of 33 children of Gambia in the African continent was ascribed to have been caused by consuming an Indian cough syrup. The Indian Government had established a committee to investigate the issue. But later the Gambian Government clarified that the Indian made cough syrup was not responsible for the death of the children.
Nepal banned 16 Indian pharmaceutical companies
Nepal banned 16 Companies from manufacturing Indian medicines. After the death of children in Africa a list of medicines was declared. Then Nepal Government sensing danger banned the import of those medicines.
