Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) – Barelvi Ulema Maulana Shahabuddin has demanded that Akhilesh Yadav, ex-Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh should appoint a Muslim as the National President of the Samajwadi Party. Shahabuddin is the National President of the ‘All India Muslim Jamaat’. He has also warned that if Akhilesh Yadav does not do this, then Muslims have other options.

Shahabuddin added that the Muslims had made both Mulayam Singh and Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, hence they now have to make a Muslim the President of the Party. Akhilesh Yadav is ignoring the Muslims. This is the reason that the Samajwadi Party is scattered. Akhilesh’s Yadav community is only 7% of the State while Muslims comprise 22% to 25% of the population.
