Pastor arrested in Kerala in case of illegal trafficking of minor girls

Kozhikode (Kerala) – Kerala’s Railway Protection Force has arrested a pastor for trafficking minor girls from other States. Jacob Varghese, the  accused, is the Director of Karuna Charitable Trust and a member of the Independent Pentecostal Church. The Kozhikode Railway Police arrested 2 middlemen – Lokesh Kumar and Shyam Lal from Rajasthan who are involved in the trafficking of 12 girls. On Tuesday, the girls were brought by the Okha-Ernakulam Express from Vadodara in Gujarat. The girls were supposed to be kept in the hospital of Karuna Charitable Trust. Currently, these girls have been handed over to the Railway Police Child Welfare Committee.

The girls are from poor families. Karuna Charitable Trust is also operating without the required documents, according to an investigation. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the girls were brought from Rajasthan promising better education and care.
