Chennai – A 500-year-old Idol made of green stone has been recovered by the Idol-wing of TN Police near Ponamalle town. According to researchers, this is the only five-faced Idol of Deity Shiva. The Idol is believed to be from a temple in Nepal.

When Police received information that some people were trying to sell an ancient Idol, they set a trap. Pretending to be wealthy buyers of antiquities, the Police approached the suspected vendors. After negotiating the price convinced them to show the Idol. The Idol smugglers got trapped. Police suspect that there were others also involved in selling the Idol. The Idol-Wing of the TN Police has recovered many ancient Idols from smugglers. The TN Police have also brought back the ancient Idols sold abroad and re-installed them in the temples of TN.
