
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – The Yamunotri Highway has been closed to heavy vehicles. A section of the road collapsed between Sayanachatti and Ranachatti in Uttarkashi District of Uttarakhand State on the evening of 20th May. This resulted in thousands of pilgrims getting stranded in Yamunotri. A security wall on the highway leading to the Yamunotri temple collapsed which disrupted traffic and left about 10,000 people stranded.

It may take up to 3 days for the road to reopen. District officials are using small vehicles to evacuate passengers. However, people coming in large vehicles could not get out.
