Britain to return an ancient Idol of Goddess Shri Yogini stolen 40 years ago

London (Britain) – An ancient Idol of Goddess Shri Yogini, which was stolen from a Temple in Lokari village of Banda District in Uttar Pradesh (UP), will be returned to India by Britain. Historians have claimed that the Idol is from the 8th century. Indian High Commissioner has informed that the formalities to take the Idol back are completed.

Marinello, the founder of Art Recovery International found the Idol while a British woman was selling items from her home after her husband’s death. Marinelo then approached Vijay Kumar, co-founder of the India Pride Project, dedicated to the recovery of cultural objects stolen from India. Attempts were made to retrieve the Idol after they identified it.
