In 25 years, material’s scam of worth Rs 20.23 crore

Mumbai – Many forms of embezzlement of money in Government offices have been exposed; but in many Government offices in Maharashtra there is also a scam of crores of rupees. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has disclosed in the State Finance Audit Report of the year 2022-23 that in hundreds of Government offices of 22 Government departments, there has been corruption and misappropriation of Government materials worth Rs 20.238 crore in the last 25 years. The report was presented in the recently held monsoon session of the legislature.
In the last 25 years, there have been 242 cases of corruption and misappropriation of literature in Government offices in the state. In this, a total of 42 cases of disorderly conduct have taken place in the Government offices of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department. Among them, 32 embezzlement cases have been revealed in Water Resources Department, 25 Finance Department, 27 Home Department, 22 Forest and Revenue Department, 18 Public Works Department.
In the last 5 years, 21 cases of embezzlement and misuse in Government offices have come to light in Maharashtra. A scam of Rs. 1,82,82,000 has taken place in this.
Theft of material worth Rs 462 lakh !
In the last 25 years, materials worth Rs 462 lakh were stolen from 23 different departments of the Government. A total of 104 cases of theft of material in Government offices have been revealed.
