Last year too there was a similar attack on a procession here.

The procession started from Ganipur village towards Kanak Durga temple. Suddenly stone pelting started at the procession at Remuna. Therefore, a stampede-like situation arose here. After this, both the parties clashed and the property at the spot was damaged. When the police arrived to bring the situation under control, the fanatics also pelted stones at them. In this, the windows of Superintendent of Police Sagarika Nath’s car were broken. Apart from this, a Policeman’s mobile phone was broken.

According to Odisha’s Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, the controversy started over the music being turned down during the procession.

Editorial Perspective

While Odisha is a Hindu majority, a minority of fanatical Muslims dares to carry out such attacks every year, which means that the Hindus and the Police are inactive and sleeping.
