Sikh man stripped naked, tied up and brutally thrashed in Pakistan’s Lahore

Amritsar (Punjab) – A distressing video depicting the brutal assault on a Sikh man, stripped naked and beaten following the celebration of the Sikh festival of Baisakhi in Pakistan, has circulated widely on social media. The Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), a jihadist organization in Pakistan, has also shared footage of the incident. BJP Sikh leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa brought attention to this video, urging action from the Indian government.

Addressing Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in a tagged post, Manjinder Singh Sirsa lamented the silence of the Pakistan government and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in response to the repeated persecution of minority Sikhs and Hindus by jihadists.

Editorial Perspective

  • Why is there a lack of vocal response from Sikhs in India, Canada, Britain, Australia, and other countries who support the demand for Khalistan ? Does their silence suggest agreement with the situation ?
  • Additionally, why hasn’t Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a pro-Khalistan activist often labelled as a terrorist, has commented anything about this incident ?
