Young woman raped in BARC quarters in Mumbai

Two accused arrested

Mumbai – A 19-year-old girl was gang-raped in a house in the BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) quarters in Mumbai. Police have arrested Ajit Kumar Yadav (26 years) and Prabhakar Yadav (30 years) and registered a case based on the victim’s complaint. After the Mumbai Police produced both the accused in the Court, the accused duo has been remanded in Police custody till 20th November. The Police have collected samples of the soft drink and sent it for examination.

The victim studies commerce. She lives in Palghar with her mother and sister, but as her father works at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, she travelled to Mumbai to meet him.

Ajit Kumar Yadav knew the victim. He is the son of an employee working at the BARC. He invited a friend to his house as his parents went out of the station. The victim had gone to Ajit’s house to borrow some cooking items. At that time, the accused duo gave her a spiked drink. She fainted after drinking it. Taking advantage of it, they both gang-raped her. After some time, she came to her senses and realised what had happened. (Our girls need to be careful around acquaintances as well ! – Editor)

Editorial Perspective

The Government should try to get the death penalty for such rapists. Only such a punishment will discourage lust-filled people !
