New Delhi – A special bench of the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of an order of the Allahabad High Court. The Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow Bench sought the victim’s horoscope in a rape case to determine if she had Mangaldosh. On this Justice Dhulia said, “But this is totally out of context. The right to privacy is disturbed. We do not want to join facts on what astrology has to do with this. We respect your sentiments on that. We are only concerned with subject matter linking to this.”

On 23rd May, the High Court ordered Lucknow University’s Astrology Department Head to determine whether the victim in the relevant case possesses Mangaldosh. A deadline of three weeks had been set by the Court. The accused is a Professor at Allahabad University.

‘The accused youth raped the victim by falsely promising her marriage,’ according to the victim. The accused, however, claimed she is afflicted with Mangaldosh and cannot be married. According to the victim, the youth does not want to marry her, so he is lying. I don’t have Mangaldosh. The High Court ruled on this basis.
