Dialogue with Russian counterpart on Russia-Ukraine war

New Delhi – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently held a telephone discussion with Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu. Clarifying his stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Singh said that neither party should consider the option of nuclear weapons. He also reiterated India’s position that moving forward through dialogue and diplomacy is necessary to resolve the conflict at the earliest.

During the talks, the two defence ministers discussed the deteriorating situation in Ukraine along with bilateral defence assistance. Shoigu also apprised Singh of Russia`s issues. Both ministers have decided to stay in touch to continue discussions

Russia fired missiles at several Ukrainian cities in response to Ukraine’s massive bombing in Crimea about two weeks ago. After that, the conflict between the two countries increased.

US President Joe Biden has warned Russia against using nuclear weapons. He said, doing so would lead to dire consequences for Russia.

The Biden administration has previously said that earlier Russia has given notice that it plans to conduct regular studies of its nuclear capabilities.

The normalisation of India-China relations in world`s interest – S Jayshankar

India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met China’s Ambassador to India Sun Weidong on 23rd October. Dr Jaishankar said that maintaining peace in the border area is essential for the normal relations between India and China. The normalisation of India-China relations is in the interest of both countries, of Asia and the world at large.
