Hyundai Pakistan offers solidarity to the alleged struggle for freedom of Kashmir

Editorial Comments

  • After massive opposition by Indians on social media, instead of an apology, Hyundai gave only an ostensible explanation.
  • Indians should boycott such an anti-India and pro-Pakistan company as well as its products. The Central Government should also take strong action against this company, so that other foreign companies may dread anti-India acts.

New Delhi – Hyundai, a South Korean four-wheeler manufacturing company’s Pakistan unit on its official Twitter handle and Facebook page posted pro-Kashmir posts. Pakistan observes 5th February as “Kashmir Solidarity Day”. The company tweeted ‘Let us remember the sacrifice of our Kashmiri brothers and stand in support as they continue to struggle for freedom.’

Indians erupted with anger on social media protesting against Hyundai using various hashtags. A Twitter Trend  #BoycottHyundai was also started in the protests. Hyundai is doing business in India since 1996.

India is our second home – Hyundai

Editorial Comment

India is the second home of the establishment for commercial gain only. If Hyundai respects India, then Hyundai would not have hurt the Indian sentiments through its post. Hyundai has not even apologised after such a post.

The Company’s superficial explanation said the company has been committed to the Indian market for more than 25 years. “India is the second home to the Hyundai brand and we have a zero-tolerance policy towards insensitive communication and we condemn any such view. As part of our commitment to India, we will continue our efforts towards the betterment of the country as well as its citizens.”
