Shriram belongs to the whole world, not just to BJP and RSS : Farooq Abdullah, National Conference

Editorial comment

If it is so, why did the Muslims in India oppose the liberation of Shriram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya ? Like Shriram, Shrikrushna and Deity Shiva also belong to the whole world, so why don’t Muslims hand over the place of their temples at Kashi and Mathura to Hindus ? Why isn’t Farooq Abdullah striving for this ? Or is it that the statement ‘Shriram belongs to the whole world’ is just a political stunt ?

Jind (Haryana) – Addressing an event to mark the 108th birth anniversary of the late Deputy PM Devi Lal, organised by the Indian National Lok Dal at Jind in Haryana, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah said, ‘Shriram is not only for Hindus. He belongs to the whole world. The BJP is asserting its rights over Shriram as if He is only for them and not for anyone else. Shriram belongs not only to the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh but to the whole world’.

Farooq Abdullah said,

Even after two years of abrogation of Article 370 that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, not a single person has got a job. The Centre had promised 50,000 jobs in Kashmir, while nothing of that sort has happened. (Farooq Abdullah is among those who ruled Jammu and Kashmir from Independence till two years ago. He should tell what he did for Kashmir.  – Editor)

When was Kashmir not part of India ? We chose Gandhi’s India, not Jinnah’s Pakistan. We said, ‘We will stay in India and we will die in India’. (‘Let’s stay in India and betray the Hindu minority in Kashmir’, has been the mentality of the Abdullah family and other religious fanatics. This is the history and the present. – Editor)

Atal Bihari Vajpayee had said, ‘We can change friends, but not the neighbours’. (India also has the power to change its neighbours, unfortunately, it is not being done due to a lack of willpower. – Editor)

We must stop arguing with our neighbours. If you maintain friendly relations with your neighbours, you will prosper. Where are our friends today ? Is Nepal, Bhutan or Bangladesh our friends ? We spent billions of rupees in Afghanistan. Is Afghanistan our friend today ? The elder brother should understand that the house will prosper only if the younger brother is taken along. (India tried to be friendly, but it is a fact that the neighbouring nations have betrayed it. Farooq Abdullah deliberately avoids speaking this. – Editor)
