High Court’s decision of declaring cow as the national animal is welcomed : Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi

Editorial comment

  • Merely welcoming such decision is not enough, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board should also ensure cows are not slaughtered.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) – Member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board Maulana (Islamic Practitioner) Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali has welcomed the Allahabad High Court’s decision of declaring cow as the national animal.

Maulana Mahali said that we should honour the sentiments of Hindu brethren; by doing so there will be permanent unity and peace in the Nation. The Court said that during the Mughal rule cow slaughter was banned. Babar had advised his son Humayun to honour Hindu sentiments and never permit cow slaughter. Humayun and his successors obeyed it. Mughals had honoured all religions and their traditions. Therefore, there never was a religious war. During the freedom struggle, Maulana Bari from Lucknow had released an order banning cow-slaughter. Now also none of the Maulavis agrees to cow-slaughter. (If this is so, then why are cows slaughtered in the Nation ? Why not All India Muslim Personal Law Board or Maulana try to stop it forever ? Why don’t they demand the passing of the Bill in the whole country ? Why don’t they invite Muslims to obey the law banning cow-slaughter prevailing in many States ? – Editor)
