Washington DC (USA) – Demonstrations in support of Palestine are ongoing in leading American universities. According to the Associated Press, 900 students have been arrested so far. On 29th April, students at Harvard University, one of the best universities in the world, raised the Palestinian flag. The Palestinian flag was raised replacing the American flag behind John Harvard’s statue on campus. The spokesperson of the university said that action will be taken against the concerned students.

Protests happening at various places

1. Protesters’ camps at Boston’s Northeastern University were dismantled and more than 100 people were taken into custody. During the protest, the protestors also raised slogans like ‘Kill the Jews’.

2. At the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, supporters of Israel and Palestine confronted each other. There was a fight between them. Vandalism also happened in the university at that time.

3. Protesters at several American universities have demanded that universities divest from institutions that profit from Israel. Portland State University has accepted this demand. The university announced its decision not to accept gifts and grants from the ‘Boeing’ company. According to a report, Boeing’s contribution to Israel’s economy is ₹29,000 crore.

Editorial Perspective

Who are the supporters of Palestine is a well-known fact. However, it is equally true that the protesting communist and Muslim organisations will remain futile in front of the influential Jew lobbies in the US.
