New Delhi – Along with India, Diwali is celebrated with much enthusiasm across the world. On the 8th of November 2023, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak celebrated Diwali with his wife Akshata, at his residence at 10, Downing Street. He invited many Hindu eminent personalities on the occasion. British PM Office informed on social media that on the victory of light over darkness, PM Sunak was celebrating Diwali with people of the Hindu community. PM Sunak has extended Diwali greetings to Britain and the world.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau celebrates Diwali

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also celebrated Diwali amidst strained relations with India. Trudeau lighted lamps at Parliament Hill in Ottawa. He said while sharing pictures of the event on social media that the whole world would celebrate Diwali in a few days. It is the festival of triumph of light over darkness. It is the festival of new hopes. He thanked people who celebrated Diwali with him and wished the festival would bring new light and hope to everyone’s life.

Canadian Postal Department releases a stamp on the occasion

This is the fifth year that the Canadian Postal Department celebrated Diwali with the issue of a special stamp for the Diwali festival.

US VP Kamal Harris celebrates Diwali at home

The Indian-origin US Vice President Kamala Harris officially celebrated Diwali at her house. She discussed the significance of this festival with her guests. She said, “Diwali is celebrated at such a time when so many things are happening in the world. The world is going through a difficult and dark period. This festival is celebrated with the lighting of lamps. It teaches us the difference between darkness and light, and ignorance and knowledge.”

Mayor of Atlanta (USA) celebrates Diwali

City Mayor Andre Dickens joined in the celebrations of the Diwali festival by Hindu American citizens. He said that he was happy to celebrate Diwali.
