Statement made after returning to India
New Delhi – Many people in Pakistan admire India. They are concerned about good relations with India. Lyricist Javed Akhtar said, we think of a world where there will be no division. He recently returned from a visit to Lahore, Pakistan. The ‘Faiz Festival’ was organised there between 17th-19th February. He has stated during the festival, “The attackers weren’t from Norway, or from Egypt. They are still present in your country, so you should not be offended if an Indian complains about this.” His statement was lauded in India as well as in Pakistan.

Akhtar said,
1. Millions of Pakistanis want to connect with us. We have to think about ‘how to connect them’.
2. On this question, ‘Should there be talks between India and Pakistan ?’, he said, ‘I do not have the capacity to make any statements. Those in power know better what is going on and what should be done next ! The Pakistan Army, its people and the Government do not think alike. But the people who are running the country know this very well. My study on this is very limited’.
Editorial viewpoint
Politicians, military, artists, entrepreneurs, as well as common people in Pakistan hate India. There are very few people who express good opinions about India. So making such a statement is a joke. |
